M & M Math

We finished up “M'” week Friday with a little M & M math.  The kids each got a package of M & M’s. Their job was to sort (we’ve been talking a lot about sorting and what that means and the different ways we can do it) their M & M’s by color. They had to read the color words in order to sort their M & M’s in the correct spot, so it was great practice for that, too! After they were done sorting they had to lay their M & M’s out on their graphs and count how many they had of each. Next, they used their crayons to fill in the graph and were able to see which color they had the most and least of. Their last and final job was to EAT!!! (They were really good at that part!)
Ask your child what sorting means and different ways that you can sort things. It will be great practice for them and they will LOVE telling you what they know!

This week we will be introducing the kids to “Ms. T” We will focus on the “T” sound and all the different words that start with “t.” We will also continue talking about “ME” and go into talking about families. The kids will finish their “me” poster and make their own house full of their family. Stay tuned!
Another important thing we will be focusing on this week is memorizing the kids telephone numbers. Please work with your child in memorizing this number. I do not have “home” numbers on file for all of you, so if you could please send me an e-mail with the phone number you are having your child memorize so I can help them out!
Thank you, parents! I’m excited for our week!
