Friends and Families

During school this week I introduced a new choices in our Daily Five Reading and Math. Another choice we have during Daily Five Reading time is Word Work. This includes making letters and words with Play-Doh or pipe cleaners. As the year goes on we will continue to add more choices to Word Work and it will become one of their favorites! In math I introduced Math with Someone. This means you get to choose a partner to play a math game with. We all played the same game this week, but we had a lot of fun! We used bears and linking cubes to show 10 and then our partner hid some. We then had to guess how many they took away by counting how many were left in our partners hand! It took a few tries, but by Friday we were all playing the game the right way and having lots of fun!

During Discovery time this week we talked about friends and family and how important they are to us. Here are some pictures from our activities this week:

Rainbow Friends 2

We made a glyph using colored squares of who lives in our house. When we were done, we analyzed our data and found out that 12 of us have brothers, 12 of us have sisters and 13 of us have pets!
