For the past two days we have been talking about how the apples grow on the trees and what the trees look like during the different seasons. Today we read the perfect story, The Seasons of Arnold’s Apple Tree, to help us recognize what attributes a tree has during each season. The kids got into groups and their job was to create a tree that represented their season. You guys, I was SO IMPRESSED! These turned out SO GOOD and I did not do a thing. The kids worked together and made these trees come alive! Before we went home today each group got up in front of the class and shared their tree and what made it special. The posters are hanging outside our classroom—check them out!
Sponge painting the winter tree
Cutting out leaves for the fall tree
This group used tissue paper and glue to make buds on the spring tree
The summer tree group tore paper to make lots of green leaves
And here are the finished products!
Today we also got a visit from Mrs. Thompson, the guidance counselor. She talked to the kids about feelings and ways to ignore people when they are bothering us. We can use the “D-Bug” approach to ignore, cool off, and talk to the teacher when something is bother us. The kids love Mrs. Thompson!!
We ended our great day with some S.M.A.R.T. moves
This is the alligator crawl
Superman!
